Before becoming a textbook author, I worked as a legal secretary for 18 years. I particularly enjoyed training new secretaries, as there was no specific legal specialization at the time. Eventually, I completed a bachelor’s degree in vocational education and obtained my teaching certificate. I had the opportunity to teach office automation techniques at college level for over 18 years, while pursuing postgraduate studies in school administration, which led to a master’s degree. I also had a highly rewarding experience working as an educational advisor at Cégep à distance, where I contributed to the development and revision of teaching materials. At college, I supported various departments in the revision of their academic programs. As far as publishing is concerned, in 2000, I published an advanced word processing workbook with Éditions Logitell and it was met with great success. This paved the way for further collaboration and after many months of dedicated work with the Logitell team, the textbook Suivi de la correspondance was published in 2017. Several other exciting projects followed and are now also featured in Logitell’s bibliography. This hands-on and demanding experience proved to be particularly rewarding. Together, we poured our hearts into these projects with the aim of providing students with meaningful support in their learning journey.
Alice Daigle-Roy worked for several years as a technical writer and an editorial coordinator at Logitell Publishing. She studied French literature and pedagogy. In addition to her experience in educational publishing, she taught French at the secondary level under short-term contracts. She also provided tutoring to secondary and college students and led support workshops in written French for students facing difficulties. Her main motivation is to design educational materials that help students better understand the subject matter and complete tasks with greater confidence and success.
Writing is more than arranging words on a page; it is a way of preserving thoughts, emotions, and experiences for future generations. Every author begins with an idea, but it is dedication and imagination that transform that idea into a meaningful story. Through writing, authors can transport readers to distant places, introduce unforgettable characters, and explore complex themes that reflect the human experience. An author often draws inspiration from everyday life. A simple conversation, a journey to a new place, or a memorable event can become the foundation of a compelling narrative. By observing the world carefully, writers discover countless stories waiting to be told. They use their creativity to shape these observations into works that entertain, educate, and inspire readers. The process of writing requires patience and persistence. Rarely is the first draft perfect. Authors spend many hours revising, editing, and refining their work to ensure that every sentence contributes to the overall message. This commitment to improvement helps transform rough ideas into polished pieces of literature. Books have the power to connect people across cultures and generations. A story written many years ago can still influence readers today because human emotions and experiences remain universal. Through their work, authors share knowledge, encourage critical thinking, and provide comfort to those who find meaning in their words.
